APPLICATIONS |
||
Diphenolic acid is an analog of bisphenol A structurally. It has a carboxylic acid group. It is a white powder with melting point 167-170 C; slightly soluble in water; soluble in organic solvents including acetic acid, ketones, ethanol, and isopropanol. It is prepared by condensation reaction of phenol with levulinic acid in the presence of hydrochloric acid. It can be substituted for bisphenol A, the primary raw material of epoxy resin. It is used in preparing alkyd resin, phenol formaldehyde resins, printing-inks, adhesives and coatings | ||
